In addition to immediate workflow actions, which we just covered, you can also create workflow actions that fire in the future. You will need to create a Time Trigger in your Workflow Rule as well. Time-based workflow actions are the same options as those for immediate - New Task, Field Update, Outbound Message and Email Alert.
